ELABORATION
Another variety also native to La Rioja that is normally used in the coupages of the wines from this area. Traditionally, when it has been produced as a single varietal, the tendency has been to make wines with long ageing in wood, which has altered its very particular characteristics. We have wanted to highlight these peculiarities by making a young wine with a few months in oak. This monovarietal is also the result of the joint work of Bodegas d. Mateos with the CIDA; starting our collaboration project back in 2004, the basis of the research has focused on the clonal selection of the graciano riojano in our vineyards, resulting in the last 8 clones from which all the new purely riojano graciano has been multiplied and with which this wine has been produced. We could therefore say that there is no other graciano on the market that is purer and more authentic than these bottles of Insolente.
TASTING NOTES
In view, it has a very intense and bright red colour with a very high robe and cardinal reflections. On the nose, very intense aromas of ripe fruit (blackberries, cherries and maraschino) combined with spicy and balsamic notes. Milky and mineral finish with light toasted hints. Tasty, very long and full in the mouth, with a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity.
INSOLENTE
Wines aimed at a young public, willing to try new things and who understand wine from the point of view of pure enjoyment, seeking an attractive and original image with an almost rogue discourse, outside the clichés traditionally established in Rioja. This range of wines has been developed with the idea of expressing to the maximum the typicity of each variety, hence their short ageing in barrels of no more than 5 months for the reds. These are wines in which fruit expression takes precedence over other elements, ideal for those who are new to the world of wine and are looking for wines that “taste like wine”.
